SPORT FOR EVERYONE

National, ethnic and linguistic minorities and sport

Study Visit VII - Romania

PROJECT'S TARGETS

Short description

  • Sport in the world of globalization and cultural identity
  • Football as an element of collective identity

In the current world, where globalization is sometimes a threat for collective identities of many communities, especially ethnic and national minorities, tools to maintain and express these identities are needed. They use their cultural heritage, helping them to distinguish one from another. The elements of this heritage are, among others, language, territory, religion, customs and history. One of the strongest elements of culture, used to this aim, is also sports. Three -day seminars, trainings and workshops, meetings with Romanian experts, trainers, visits to sports clubs, institutions operating in national minority backgrounds in central Romania. One-day participants' own presentations presenting their own projects and solutions. One-day participation in an open conference organized by national partners. It is a great opportunity to establish contacts with national institutions, networking.

Most of all, we warmly invite European national minorities representatives, affiliated with FUEN but not necessarily. The target group consists of trainers and volunteers working with children in small grassroots clubs in the areas inhabited by national minorities. Seminars that we offer are the perfect opportunity to meet experts, scientists and practicians and to exchange experience with trainers from all over Europe.
Communicative knowledge of English is required.
